Andrea Albano

Global Corporate Counsel, Guess Europe 

With an important experience in first tier law firms focusing on M&A / Corporate Law and an LL.M. at UCLA, Berkeley, Andrea started his in-house carrier at Bayer Italy, a very large national organization active both at commercial and production level, reporting to General Counsel Italy. After a secondment at Bayer HQ in Leverkusen, Andrea moved to Campari Group, with legal and compliance responsibility for Europe, Africa ed APAC, reporting to Global General Counsel and Business Development Officer. Andrea is currently employed at the Swiss HQ of the Guess Group, with Global Legal and Compliance Responsibility, reporting to Group CEO.

Elena Alberti

Managing Director and CFO, Penske Automotive Italy 

Elena Alberti is the Managing Director and CFO of Penske Automotive Italy. She began her career in the USA in 1999 after completing her studies in Economics and Management at the University of Modena. During her tenure at Penske in the United States her experiences traversed the automotive sector with roles and responsibilities ranging from corporate finance to corporate accounting, internal audit, project management, marketing, human resources, general management. In 2005, when Penske Automotive expanded in the European market, she held responsibilities in corporate acquisition projects and integration and relocated to Germany as CFO of the group’s German operations. In 2012 she developed the group’s expansion strategy in Italy and started Penske Automotive Italy, with responsibility for all acquisitions by the group in Italy. Today she is co-Managing Director of the Italian subsidiary of Penske Automotive with a focus on the development of the growth and acquisition strategy within the Italian market. Under this leadership Penske Automotive Group Italy has become the leading Italian car dealership group in the premium-luxury segment and represents the brands Audi, BMW, Mini, Maserati, Mercedes, Smart, Lamborghini, Porsche, Land Rover, Jaguar, and Volvo. She supervises an operation with annual revenues of approximately 650 million Euros, 20 locations and 650 employees. She holds a Certificate of Management Excellence from Harvard Business School. Among her recognitions is Forbes Top 100 Women in Italy.

Fabio Angelini

Fabio G. Angelini is Founding Partner of Parola Angelini Law Firm.
Mr Angelini is admitted to the Italian Supreme Court and is Professor of Administrative Law at the Uninettuno University of Rome.

Luca Arnaboldi

Senior Partner, Carnelutti Law Firm 

Luca Arnaboldi, the Managing Partner of CARNELUTTI Law Firm, has been with the firm since the beginning of his career. His practice focuses on complex M&A and finance transactions, including within the real estate and media sectors.
Luca is the Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy.

In addition, Luca is a professor of Mergers and Acquisitions Law at the University Carlo Cattaneo of Castellanza (LIUC). He has also lectured at various courses and seminars, at the University of Milan, at Milan’s Politecnico University, at the LUISS University in Rome, and at numerous conferences where he is a regular speaker on specialist financial and legal subjects. Author of numerous publications, he is a TV commentator and speaker in several forums on economics, finance, and law.

Luca is also a registered chartered accountant and a reserve officer with Italy’s Guardia di Finanza. He has held and still holds directorships or supervisory board positions with several, public and private, Italian and international companies. Luca was admitted to the Italian Bar in 1989 and gained audience rights before the Supreme Court in 1999.

Stefano Azzali

General Director, Milan Chamber of Arbitration

Stefano Azzali is a lawyer graduated at the Genoa University – School of Law, and he is the General Director of the Milan Chamber of Arbitration (CAM) since 2001.
He also acts as Secretary General of the Italy-China Business Mediation Center and as Director of the the Institute for the Promotion of Arbitration and Mediation in the Mediterranean (ISPRAMED).
From 2009 to 2017, he has been the Secretary Treasurer of the International Federation of Commercial Arbitration Institutions (IFCAI), of which he is now the President.
Since 2005, he is Visiting Professor of Arbitration Law at Bocconi University – School of Law in Milan and, since 2012, he is Fellow at the Centre for Transnational Litigation and Commercial Law, New York University, School of Law.
From 2001 to 2007 he chaired the Disciplinary Commission of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), where he is now member of its Federal Court of Justice. He is member of the Formula One International Contract Recognition Board, which handles contractual disputes between F1 drivers and their teams.
Author of articles and publications on arbitration, he is member of the panel of arbitrators before various arbitral institutions (ICDR, VIAC, CIETAC etc.) and delegate for Italy for the Uncitral Working Group II (Arbitration and Conciliation); he acted as arbitrator in several ad hoc and institutional proceedings (ICC, ICDR, DIS, Swiss Chambers etc).

Giorgio Baglieri

Director – Infrastructure, Lazard

Giorgio joined Lazard in 2010 and is currently a Director covering the Infrastructure space in Europe, with particular focus on transportation.

Giorgio has been involved in numerous major assignments in the Italian market, advising corporate entities and financial sponsors on complex M&A transactions in the infrastructure space, boasting a second-to-none experience in deals involving motorways.

Moreover, Giorgio has an extensive track-record in public Italian M&A, in the context of structural transactions such as public tender offers or mergers. Prior to joining Lazard, Giorgio Baglieri worked in the Corporate Strategy and Development Department at Prysmian.

Ziad Bahaa-Eldin 

Managing Partner, Bahaa-Eldin Law Office in cooperation with BonelliErede  

Ziad Bahaa-Eldin is the Managing Partner of Bahaa-Eldin Law Office in cooperation with BonelliErede (Egypt). He has over twenty years of experience serving in government positions and in the private sector and he is currently a member of several boards of directors of major banks and corporations in Egypt. He has been Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Cooperation between 2013 and 2014 as well as head of the Investment Authority and the Financial Supervision Authority.

He also participated in drafting key legislative documents in Egypt, Syria, Yemen, Abu Dhabi, and Libya. He has extensive experience in financial law, banking, capital market, investment and company laws, governance, compliance and economic legislation. He holds a PhD in Law at London School of Economics and a Master’s in International Business Law at King’s College, University of London. In 1997 he joined PKF Consulting of the Pannel Kerr Forster Worldwide Network as a juionr consultant deepening finance management and management control issues. In October 1998 he joined ECA Italia where he held roles of increasing responsibility (Key Account Manager, Operations Manager, General Manager) until taking on the role of Managing Director in 2011. Barbara Benzoni, is currently heading the legal assistance of the International Mid-Downstream and Chemicals business of Eni SpA, with a team of 24 lawyers (based in Italy, UK, France, Belgium, Germany and Tunisia). Pierluigi Berchicci has over twenty-five years of Investment Banking and Capital Markets experience. In 2010, he co-founded ValeCap, a financial advisory company, specialized in providing investment banking services in the renewables and infrastructure sectors.

Emiliano Berti

Emiliano Berti is Head of Legal & Compliance, Europe at Nokia, besides he is serving as President of the Board of Directors at Nokia Italy. Emiliano manages a team of 50+ lawyers and contract managers with responsibility for over 60+ countries. Before joining Nokia, Emiliano served in different legal roles at General Electric based in Florence, London and Paris and he started his career in private practice working with law firms Carnelutti and McDermott Will & Emery LLP. Emiliano has been Member of the Legal Affairs Committee of Assomineraria from 2009 to 2014 and member of the Advisory Board of Foreign Investors at Confindustria from 2017 to 2021. Fabio Bertoni is General Counsel of The New Yorker magazine, where he is responsible for reviewing all articles, website posts, videos, and other content published by The New Yorker before their publication, as well as supervising legal issues surrounding The New Yorker Festival and other events. He began his legal career at the Hughes Hubbard & Reed firm. Prior to working at The New Yorker, Fabio was assistant general counsel at HarperCollins Publishers, where he conducted the pre-publication review of non-fiction books, and handled legal issues for the Children’s Division, negotiated author-publisher agreements, and advised on licensing copyright and trademark issues. Prior to that, Fabio was vice president and deputy general counsel for ALM Media, publisher of The American Lawyer, the New York Law Journal, and dozens of other newspapers and magazines across the United States. Fabio also serves as an adjunct professor at Fordham Law School, where he teaches a seminar on Media Law Drafting. He graduated from Columbia Law School and from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism.

Alessandra Bini

Alessandra graduated cum laude at the University of Siena, Italy and got her LL.M Degree at the University College London (London, UK) in 1997. She is a qualified Italian lawyer and in 2006 Alessandra completed her master’s in business administration at the SDA Bocconi, Milan (Italy).
After several years spent in major international law firms in Milan, Alessandra joined the IBM Legal Department in 2001 where she started her career path as in-house lawyer with national and international responsibilities, including covering leadership roles in Italy and Middle East and Africa where Alessandra has been assigned from 2014 until 2017.

Erik Bomans 

CEO, Deminor

Erik Bomans joined Deminor in 1995 and became a partner in 2000. He is currently the CEO of Deminor Recovery Services (DRS), a company that was spun off from the Deminor Group in 2013. Within DRS, alongside his function as CEO, he is responsible for developing the litigation funding business line. Erik has advised investors on numerous high-profile corporate finance transactions, special situations and matters of investor protection. Vita Capria is the Head of Legal & Corporate Affairs of EF Solare Italia.
She holds a Jurisprudence Degree from the Libera Università Internazionale in the “Guido Carli” school of Social Sciences. From 2000 to 2011, she was a Senior Associate for the Chiomenti legal firm, where she specialized in M&A, Corporate Finance, Private Equity, Project Finance, Infrastructure, Energy, Real Estate and Commercial Agreements.
In 2011, she became head of the legal department for RTR Capital, the leading photovoltaic company funded by British private equity firm, Terra Firma. Here, she worked on important asset acquisitions in the photovoltaic utilities field, stemming from both national and international energy concerns. As Chief Counsel for RTR, she was instrumental in the selling off of the entire RTR portfolio, equal to 334 MW of photovoltaic assets and covering all of Italy for the firm, F2i. After the purchase was finalized in 2018, she joined EF Solare Italia where she continues on in her current role.

From 2000 to 2005 he was head of legal and corporate affairs at Natuzzi SpA, listed on the NYSE, and before that he was in-house counsel in banks in Italy and Luxembourg.
He is a qualified lawyer and earned a diploma of post-graduate specialisation from Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, Pisa.

Stefano Paolo Catelani

Stefano read law at the University of Rome and, after a two-year traineeship within a law firm in Florence, he took the Bar Exam and qualified as an avvocato in Italy. He then worked as an in-house counsel for a major Italian pharmaceutical company for five years, and he subsequently joined the legal department of DuPont de Nemours, a multinational chemical company. At DuPont, he has advised several subsidiaries and various business units in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He was initially based in Italy and then he was called at the European Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. He then moved to the External Affairs department of Dupont where he worked as Director Governmental Affairs (Europe) both in Brussels and Geneva, and he eventually returned to the Legal department.

Stefano was until recently working as General Counsel for the DuPont Safety & Construction Business Unit within the Europe, Middle East and Africa Region. He was responsible for legal compliance of the business units in these regions and he coordinated the work of his colleagues based in the Middle East, Africa and Black Sea countries on general corporate matters.

Andrea Di Paolo was born in Rome on February, 21 1971. Graduated to “La Sapienza” University of Rome, he joins BAT Italia S.p.A. in 2002 after some years of experience in law firms. In BAT he holds increasing roles and responsibilities within the legal department, becoming Head of Legal and Regulatory Affairs for Italy in 2015. Since 2017 he was appointed as Head of Legal, Regulatory Affairs and Compliance for BAT Southern Europe, managing under his responsibility 18 countries across the Mediterranean area. Starting from February of this year he was also appointed as Vice President of BAT Trieste SpA, a company created to manage the BAT Innovation Hub, the new center for the development and production of new generation products that is being built in Trieste.

Having initiated the professional career at the Studying and Planning Department of the Portuguese Ministry of Justice, particularly assisting the representation of the Ministry within OECD and European Commission in several legal matters (1993-1994), Isabel Fernandes was then invited to go to Macau as part of the Office for Legal Translation in charge of supporting the Governor within the territory transition process to China, where she stayed for two years (1994-1996). Luigi Marattin was born in Naples in 1979. BA in Economics of Public Administration and International Institutions at the University of Ferrara (2001), MSc in Economics at the University of Warwick (2002), Ph.D in Economics at the University of Siena (2007). His research work includes professional papers published on many international journals, on topics ranging from the transmission mechanism of fiscal policy to the welfare implications of alternative fiscal and monetary policy rules.

He was member of the City Council of Ferrara (2004-2009), Board Member of municipal utilities (2009-2010), member of the City Government for Budget and Finance (2010-2014), Economic Advisor of the Italian Prime Minister (2014-2018). Since 2018 he is a Member of Parliament, and from July 2020 Chair of the Finance Committee. In 2021 he has proposed and led the preliminary work of the Italian Parliament on a possible fiscal reform.

Born and graduated in Naples (Italy), qualified as a NY State Attorney in 1995, after graduating at Harvard: she consolidated her professional experience as a private practicioner in Italy, in M&A and Finance, collaborating first in Berlin with the Oppenhoff & Rädler Law firm and then in Milan for 9 years with the Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer Law Firm. Recently she also attended the “Corporate Affairs Academy Program” at Oxford – Said Business School (academic year 2020 – 2021). Throughout her career, she has always been interested in ADR and mediation, occasionally accepting appointments as an arbitrator.
From 2002 to 2013 she worked as Inhouse Legal Counsel, in the insurance and asset management business for Allianz Italia, which, after the German operating entity, is the second largest operating entity of the Allianz Group. In Allianz Italia she held the position of General Counsel and Head of Institutional Relations.
She joined Intesa Sanpaolo Group 8 years ago. During these years she took various managerial roles in different legal areas – NPL, Real Estate Asset Management, Banking Products. Since October 2019, as Group General Counsel, she heads the Advisory and Litigation Department of Intesa Sanpaolo, coordinating a large team of lawyers: 6 different legal teams, as well as a team for legal operations, with about 450 lawyers, located in 7 cities throughout Italy. She also coordinates, by way of functional reporting, all the lawyers of Intesa Sanpaolo Group, over 270 of which are located abroad in the Countries where the group operates. She also gained experience in the regulatory bodies practicing at the Italian Competition Authority and at the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission. Ms. Rigo graduated at Università degli Studi di Milano (Italy) and specialised in EU Competition Law at King’s College London (UK). She is member of ACC and ICLA – In-house Competition Lawyers’ Association, and she was awarded amongst the Europe ’30 in their 30s’ Notable Women Competition law Professionals 2017.

Tiziana Siciliano, born in Varese in 1955, graduated in Law and International Politics. After several years spent in the legal department of a bank, in 1985 she took the competition to enter the Magistracy, which she passed in 1986. Until 1992, she held the position of Magistrate in Bergamo, before being transferred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Milan, where she still works as Deputy Public Prosecutor in charge of the Labour, Health and Safety Department.
